How Pokémon Cards Work
A quick visual primer on how cards are structured, how to identify rare prints, and how battles unfold in the Trading Card Game.
Card Anatomy & HP
Hit Points (HP) show card durability in battle. Top right displays HP and elemental type. Top left displays Stage (Basic, Stage 1, or Stage 2 evolution).
Attacks & Energy Costs
Attacks specify the exact elemental Energy attachments required to attack (e.g. Fire, Water, or Colorless which accepts any energy).
Rarity Symbols
Found at the bottom edge: Circle = Common, Diamond = Uncommon, Star = Rare. Holo foil, Secret Rares (e.g., 215/203), and Alternate Arts command highest collector value.
Weakness & Resistance
Bottom section indicates combat multipliers. Attacking an opposing Pokemon with its weakness element typically doubles damage (x2).
